Welcome to Matters of a Modern Mom. I’m Emily Hammon, the mom behind the blog.

I’m a passionate person. I love life!  I'm learning to put first the things that really MATTER in order to truly be happy. I love being a mother and a wife! It’s the greatest joy and blessing in my life.
I’m MADLY in love with my husband, Jake (Mr. Hammon).

Mr. Hammon grew up on a cattle ranch in Idaho Falls, ID. He learned the value of hard work at an early age (which I'm ever grateful for). But he knows when to stop working and have fun. He's a financial analyst at ancestry.com. He's my best friend, my confidante, my eternal companion and my one and only true love. (We're coming up on 10 years of marriage this year--wahoo!)
I simply ADORE being a mother to my three little “Hams.”

There’s my Little man, James (age 8). He deals with ADHD, but he’s so smart, loving, creative and happy. He can tell the best story, the funniest joke, and he has a strong little testimony of Jesus Christ. He loves Legos and playing with his friends. He’s a wonderful big brother and always wants to do the right thing.

Next, there’s my little princess, Shelby (age 6). She’s my little buddy...always wanting to help me with motherhood duties. She is a hugger and says the sweetest things to me. She loves helping with laundry, dishes, and taking care of her baby brother Max. She's a goofball, but she is so much fun!

Lastly, there’s my little angel, Max (2). He brings me and Mr. Hammon so much joy. He came into my life when I needed him most, and he never lets me forget how adorable he is! He’s the best snuggler, and dances to his own tune. He follows me around (unless Daddy’s home then Max is hooked on Daddy—we all are, hee, hee). Max loves “Winne the Pooh,” “bread and jam,” and marbles.

I find great peace and joy in my little Hammon Family. When things get rough, there’s nowhere else on Earth I’d rather be then with them.

Life is not free of challenges though. Being a mother was never an easy undertaking, but it’s the best thing I can do as a daughter of God, and it’s “what God gave me TIME for.”

This blog is all about those things that matter most to me as a modern-day mom. You’ll find not only my little joys of being a mother, but my DIY home projects, my love for interior design, my songwriting and singing, my journey to good health, and my love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

May you find a little bit of peace and joy here too, is my hope and prayer and purpose.
